BPD Officer Syphers Set to Retire
After 25 years of service to the department, Officer Syphers is planning to retire in
November. Most recently he said farewell to an important part of his career - 17 years as D.A.R.E.
officer for the Bellevue Public Schools. Lieutenant Mark Elbert said his "legacy will be his service
and dedication to the D.A.R.E. program." Syphers attended his last D.A.R.E. graduation at Wake Robin
Elementary. He has helped over 7,000 students learn to make good choices in their lives.
Syphers has also served as a School Resource Officer at Bellevue West and other
schools in the city and has been a valuable piece of the BPD training staff as an Emergency Vehicle
Operation Instructor. He also serves on the Bellevue Volunteer Fire Department.
