BPD Assists OPD to Manage College World Series Traffic
The tens of thousands of people streaming in and out of Rosenblatt Stadium for the
College World Series means extra work for police officers. So the Omaha Police Department has enlisted
the help of the Bellevue Police Department. Five officers from Bellevue are working their normal
shifts at the 16 ballgames to help keep baseball fan traffic moving smoothly.
In return for the extra help from BPD, OPD will assist Bellevue officers at the
yearly air show at Offutt as well as "Red, White and Que", the annual BBQ competition at Haworth
Park. Sergeant Larry Lampman said Bellevue PD and Omaha PD have a very close working relationship and
the CWS is a huge part of that, and added "the great partnership between the Omaha Police Department
and the Bellevue Police Department is a real benefit to both communities when it comes to these big
events." The College World Series runs through Monday, June 25.
