Rebecca Monnier Attends FBI Youth Leadership Program
Rebecca Monnier, of Bellevue, recently completed the FBI Youth Leadership Program in
Quantico, Virginia. Rebecca, age 15, is the daughter of Bellevue Police Lieutenant Ed and Patrice
Monnier. She was selected by the Nebraska chapter of the FBI National Academy to represent the state.
The program ran from June 30th through July 7th. Attendees from all over the U.S.,
as well as a few students from Canada, Australia and The Nederlands took classes in leadership,
government and law. Rebecca thinks she might pursue a career in law and said the program was great
to prepare her for a possible legal career. But she said the best thing about the program was the
other youth attending, "I definitely made some life-long friendships there. It was great to learn
about all their different cultures and how things work in other states."
Rebecca's father, Lieutenant Ed Monnier is a graduate
of the FBI National Academy's 213th session in 2003. He was on hand in Quantico to see his daughter
graduate, and said, "graduation was outstanding. I could not believe the talent of some of the kids.
Patrice and I felt extremely blessed and humbled that our daughter could be part of this program."
