Bellevue PD Adds Three Sworn Officers
The Bellevue Police Department is pleased to announce three new officers have joined
its ranks.
During the month of September Officers McGlade, Pettit, and Flohrschutz all
successfully completed their field training. "All three of these officers did a great job during
their field training and have proven to be successful additions to the agency." stated Lt Elbert.
The training of new officers is a long and stressful event for any new recruit.
Each officer must complete weeks of orientation training. This training includes taser and pepper
spray certification, which requires the recruit to experience those tools first hand. Orientation
training also includes defensive tactic, firearms, emergency vehicle operations, and many other
courses. The recruit must then successfully graduate from the Law Enforcement Academy in Grand
Island which is a 14 week curriculum.
Finally, the recruit must complete the department’s field training program which is
by far the most difficult piece for any new officer. The program is 16 weeks in duration and involves
the on the job training with a field training officer. All three officers have been assigned to the
Road Patrol Bureau.
