Officer M Brazda Named Officer of the Quarter
Officer M Brazda has been named Bellevue Police Department's Officer
of the Quarter for the third quarter of the year. Four times each year the department selects one
officer who has demonstrated performance above and beyond that which is routinely expected. Officers
are nominated by their supervisor or a commanding officer. Officer Brazda was nominated by Sergeant
Kurt Stroeher.
Officer Brazda was selected due to his special ability to thoroughly pursue crimes
committed by Hispanics because of his Spanish-speaking ability, because of his off-duty work to help
gain a conviction in a domestic violence case, and because of his work with a confidential informant
to make drug arrests. Lieutenant Mark Elbert said, "Officer Brazda's Spanish speaking abilities are
an enormous asset to this department. Our organization really appreciates his initiative to learn the
language on his own, and put it to work in Bellevue."
Officers Miller, Grubb, Bartley, Hoffman and Stuck received honorable
mentions for the award. This website includes more information about Officers
of the Quarter going back to 2000 as well as Officers of the Year back
to 1988, and many other awards and accomplishments. View the pages under the "Awards" tab above to learn more.
