BPD Chaplain Passes Away
Beloved Bellevue Police Chaplain Joe Morley passed away on Sunday, February 24th. He was 74. Chaplain
Morley served BPD, BVFD and the Sarpy County Sheriff’s Office as a volunteer chaplain for 5 years, and
was a deacon of the Catholic Church. He lived in Papillion with his wife, Norma.
BPD’s Lieutenant Ed Monnier supervised the chaplain program for several years and knew Joe Morley to
have a huge heart for public safety. He said, "Joe had an incredible spirit about him. He was such
a wonderful guy for Bellevue Police and the other agencies he served. He did everything he could for
officers, firefighters and their families".
Bellevue Police Chaplains are local clergy who volunteer to serve the department. They provide counseling,
support, and referrals to members of the public in times of crisis and to law enforcement personnel and their families upon request.
