Would-be Robber Stopped In His Tracks
Bellevue Police were tipped off to Kevin Hershman’s plan to rob Ed Anderson’s coin
shop on Galvin Road on Tuesday, April 1st. As a result they were able to set up a trap and halt him
in his tracks. BPD had the shop’s owner vacate the premises. They turned on lights and made the shop
look open when Hershman arrived just before noon with a revolver and wearing a ski mask.
Bellevue Police’s Lieutenant Mark Elbert cites the cooperation from business owners
as key to the success of the arrest. He explained, "the great success achieved in the operation was
attributed to reliable information incorporated into a well designed plan that was executed with a
high amount of involvement with local business owners who were impacted by this attempted robbery.
This is a excellent example of partnering with our business owners in solving a critical and immediate
problem."
Ed Anderson said he was happy to let the police department do what they needed to do, and complimented BPD’s performance in nabbing the would-be thief. Hershman, 38, was arrested for Conspiracy to Commit Robbery and Felon in Possession of a Firearm.
