BPD Officers Re-qualify With Handguns
Each officer in the Bellevue Police Department has re-qualified with the handgun s/he carries on
duty. Every officer in the state is mandated by law to re-qualify each year. The department’s firearms staff
works diligently to teach officers of all skill levels in the field of firearms. The staff is made up of officers
that volunteer to become range instructors and by doing so receive additional training and certifications to
teach.
Training Coordinator Officer Pleiss, who is also a firearms instructor said, "We are very proud of
our firearms staff and appreciate their efforts in putting on quality training each year for our officers." In
addition to being range officers to teach fellow officers firearms skills, some officers have become armors
in particular makes of firearms, which benefits the agency even further in regards to the maintenance and
inspecting of each firearm.
