Truax Attends Crime Prevention Seminar, Funded by Walmart
Crime prevention is one of the most important goals for law enforcement professionals and the
citizens they serve. The Bellevue Police Department is much better equipped to attain this goal because of
WalMart. Community Policing Coordinator Glen Truax was able to attend a two-week "Basic Crime Prevention
Certification Seminar" in Louisville, KY recently, in large part, due to the generosity of WalMart. Truax
said "The Bellevue WalMart store and Manager Jim Hardy have been invaluable partners with the Police Department
for a variety of initiatives." Truax’s seminar registration and lodging were paid by a two thousand dollar
WalMart grant.
The prestigious American Crime Prevention Institute conducted the training to Truax and twenty
other law enforce-ment professionals from Police and Sheriff’s Departments and major colleges throughout the
United States. The training covered home and business security surveys, commercial/retail crime prevention,
and the many emerging technologies such as biometrics and closed-circuit television systems.
Truax’s extensive
training will benefit many Bellevue residents and businesses. To learn more about the many community policing
efforts of the Bellevue Police Department, contact Mr. Glen Truax at 637-5852 or visit the Community Policing
