South Metro SWAT Adds Realism to Movie

Members of the South Metro Area SWAT Team spent some time on a movie set in Plattsmouth
at the end of May. They were taking part, as actors, in the film, April Showers. The movie is based on
true events at Columbine High School in Littleton, Colorado in 1999, when two students there went a shooting
spree that left 15 people dead, including themselves. The film’s director, Andrew Robinson, was 13 years old
and a student at Columbine when the disaster occurred and is formerly from the Omaha area.
SWAT Team members portrayed the SWAT officers who responded in Littleton. South Metro SWAT
officers who participated were from Bellevue, LaVista, Plattsmouth and Ralston and some had spoken
lines in the film. One of the movie’s producers, April Wade,
spoke very highly of the officers, noted their professionalism, and added "they have gone way above and beyond to
make this movie more real. What they’ve given us is great production value because they really know what they’re
doing. You can’t buy that."
The movie is set to be released in April of 2009 at the tenth anniversary of the Columbine
shooting. It features Tom Arnold and Illeana Douglas.
