Offutt Commander Expresses Thanks to BPD
When Senator Ben Nelson was in town earlier in June, he needed a quick ride back to
Offutt. To ensure the fastest pass through old-town, in order for the senator to keep his schedule,
Offutt officials called upon Bellevue PD motor officers to escort him.
OAFB has frequently counted upon BPD for assistance. But Bellevue officers were still
very touched by a recent visit from the base commander, General Jim Jones, at the police headquarters.
The General presented the officers who escorted the senator, as well as Chief Stacey, with the general's
own challenge coin to show his appreciation for the support Offutt has received over the years.
Sgt Larry Lampman was one of the officers to receive a challenge coin. He said,
"you're not necessarily looking for a thank-you when you do something for someone in this job, but
it's still nice when you get one."
