Abducted Bellevue Boy Found Safe in California
A three year old Bellevue boy, missing since July, was been found in California on
Monday (09-29). Jack Kiarnan Norman was in the possession of his father. Border Patrol officers with
U.S. Customs, were checking into a stolen van late Monday night, at a rest stop when they found Jason
Norman, his wife and the child inside the van. The two gave fake names for themselves but gave officers
the real name of the child. BPD Lieutenant Dave Stukenholtz explained, "when they gave the child’s
real name they [officers] got a hit. But of course they would have been arrested anyway for the
stolen van."
Jack’s mother is on her way to California to pick up her son. The adults are in
custody in San Diego. Justin Norman faces local charges in California of possession of stolen property
and a possible weapons charge for a pair of brass knuckle found in his possession. Bellevue Police are
pressing to have Norman extradited. Stukenholtz said, "it’s fairly common practice in a case like this,
but ultimately it’s up to the two state’s Governors to agree on".
The van was stolen from New Mexico where there had previously been a sighting of the
three and the van.
