BPD Looking for Sponsors so More Children Can Shop With Cops This Holiday Season
During the 2007 holiday season 25 Bellevue
kids went shopping with uniformed police
officers and purchased clothing or items on the Christmas wish-list. This year, the Bellevue Police
Department wants to help even more children and is asking Bellevue area businesses to consider
sponsoring one or more children. Each child was allowed to spend $50 on anything they wanted at the
Bellevue Wal-Mart.
The children are identified by the Bellevue Police Officer’s Association, Bellevue
Public Schools and members of the police department. BPD’s Officer Reed is actively involved in the
department's Community Policing initiatives. He is also the interim Community Policing Coordinator.
Officer Reed said, "Especially in this tough economy, we’re expecting there to be many more children identified for
the Shop With A Cop program and we don’t want to say ‘no’ to any of them."
Any individual or business who would like to help should call Officer Reed at
402-293-3071.
