Bellevue Employee Passes Away, Donates to Police Facility
Bellevue’s Herb Walker, 76 passed away on November 14. Walker was the Assistant to the
City Administrator in Bellevue and a friend to the Bellevue Police Department. Upon his passing, he
left a generous donation to help fund the new police facility.
Walker was an officer for 33 years with Omaha PD and then was the Chief of the Eppley
Airport Authority before coming to work for the City of Bellevue. His friend Laura Rosso said Walker’s
real love was for the police profession. She said he was very interested in helping Bellevue PD get
its new facility, and added, "He had some input on the designs and was helping Chief Stacey. He
really wanted to see Bellevue Police have its new building."
Chief Stacey called Walker a great co-worker, and said "He had an uncanny ability
to see through things and separate the truth. He was clear on his messages. He spoke the facts in a
most tactful manner regardless of the audience. He had no agenda and was controlled by no one." Stacey
added that Walker was an inspiration to the entire Bellevue Police Department and will be sorely missed.
