Bellevue Police Sgt Runs Marathon in Vegas
Sergeant Larry Lampman put on a few pounds last year. He decided that wasn’t a good
thing in his line of work. Now he’s a marathon runner, "I started it to lose weight, now I’m hooked."
Just under a year ago he started working out on the elliptical and then started jogging. Then, his
marathon-running sister challenged him to take the plunge. "It’s a thing between her and I. So once
I said I’d do it, I had to." Sergeant Lampman completed the fourth annual Las Vegas Marathon on
December 7th.
Lampman said running the marathon was the most fantastic experience he’s ever had.
He plans to run three in 2009, starting with the Lincoln marathon on May 3rd, the Omaha marathon in
September and then back to Vegas in December. Lampman’s time was 4 hours, 31 minutes. He finished
1,864 out of 11, 256 overall. A marathon is 26.2 miles. The fastest runner in Vegas finished in 2
hours, 27 minutes.
