The Bellevue Police Department announces the promotion of Sergeant Tom Dargy to the rank of Lieutenant. Chief John Stacey selected Sgt Dargy from a group of three exceptional sergeants, he said "all 3 have made their mark on the Bellevue Police Department and continue to do so. Lt Dargy was praised by his commanders and peers by coming forward with the 'whole package'". Sgt Dargy was recently assigned as the supervisor for the School Resource Officer Program, prior to that he was the supervisor for the north precinct on the D team. Lt Dargy has spent most of his career in the uniform division as a field training officer, Community Policing Officer, Patrol Officer, and Supervisor. Dargy began his career with BPD in 1996. He was promoted to the rank of Sergeant in 2005. He holds a bachelor's degree in criminal justice from UNO. Lt Dargy will be assigned to night shift as a team commander under Capt Evers effective June 13th. To qualify for the rank of lieutenant, candidates must have a bachelor's degree, have been a sergeant for 3 years and police officer for a total of six years. The candidate must also pass written and oral exams, an in-basket process, and scenario-based testing. |
