Lieutenant David Stukenholtz

Lieutenant David Stukenholtz has been with the Bellevue Police Department since 1992 and has directed the Criminal Investigations Bureau since 2001. As the CIB Commander he oversees the General Investigations, Family Crimes, Special Investigations, and Records Units. Lt Stukenholtz is also Commander of the South Metro SWAT Team which serves the cities of Bellevue, LaVista, Papillion, Plattsmouth and Ralston and he has been on the team since 1995.

The General Investigations Unit primarily investigates property and cyber crimes and is staffed by six detectives and a Sergeant, while the Family Crimes Unit primarily investigates crimes against persons and is staffed by four detectives and a sergeant. In supervising these units Lt Stukenholtz primarily oversees the process of reviewing and assigning the cases as well as tracking the case progress.

The Special Investigations Unit primarily investigates crimes involving drugs and gangs as well as conducting covert surveillance. This unit is staffed by a Crime Analyst, five detectives, a Sergeant and is overseen by The Special Investigations Unit Commander.

Lt Stukenholtz also oversees the Records Unit which is staffed by four records clerks and a supervisor. The Records Unit is responsible for data entry and report transcriptions, providing reports to prosecutors, other law enforcement agencies and the public as well as conducting background and criminal history checks.

Prior to being assigned Criminal Investigations Bureau Commander, Lt Stukenholtz was assigned uniformed patrol when he was promoted to sergeant in 1994 and to lieutenant in 1996. While in uniformed patrol Stukenholtz served as a Field Training Officer and then FTO Program coordinator from 1995 to 2001. Prior to joining the Bellevue Police Department Stukenholtz was a Deputy Sheriff with the Buffalo County, Nebraska, Sheriff's Office for over 11 years.

He also serves on the Sarpy County Attorney's Office Major Cases Investigation Team. This team is comprised of officers from all law enforcement agencies in Sarpy County and is used to assist with large or complex investigations such as homicides or officer involved shootings.

He is a member of the National Tactical Officers Association, the Kansas City Metro Tactical Officers Association and the Police Officers Association of Nebraska and is a representative on the Sarpy County Crime Stoppers Board.

He holds a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from the University of Nebraska at Kearney and is a graduate of the 239th Session of the FBI National Academy.
