Many of the investigations assigned to this bureau come from cases which were initially investigated by uniformed patrol officers. Officers may forward investigations to the Criminal Investigations Bureau based on a need for an extensive follow up, specialized training, or the need to coordinate with other law enforcement agencies. The Criminal Investigations Bureau is supervised by the bureau commander and is divided into four units: the General Investigations Unit, the Family Crimes Unit, the Special Investigations Unit and the Records Unit. Within these four units are one lieutenant, three sergeants, 14 detectives and eight civilian employees. |
