Home > Community Oriented Policing > Citizen Academy Citizen AcademyThe City of Bellevue allows its residents a behind the scenes look at their Police Department. The Police Citizen’s Academy begins the first week of September every year. For eleven weeks, attendees meet on a Thursday evening, between 6:00 p.m. and 9:50 p.m. The Citizen’s Academy provides an exciting and uncommon access to the inside of modern public safety management. Police experts instruct the class members on everything from department recruiting to high risk arrest scenarios. Whether one is watching a K9 demonstration or welcoming a police helicopter, the student will be part of the action. This opportunity is not to be missed. We will begin taking applications in July of 2008 for the September 2008 class. Space is limited, so if you want to be considered for attendance, register early. Call Mr. Glen Truax at the Community Oriented Policing and Problem Solving (C.O.P.P.S.) Unit, at (402) 637-5852 with questions. View photos from last year’s Police/Fire Citizen’s Academy, on this site by exploring the links to the upper left. For more information about the Police Citizen's Academy, please email Mr. Glen Truax. |
