Neighborhood Watch Program

The Bellevue Police Department is dedicated to providing the highest quality of Police Services. We are your neighbors, highly skilled police professionals that hold ourselves accountable to the highest standards of excellence and achievement. We constantly strive to ensure a safe and peaceful atmosphere for all who live in, work in, and visit Bellevue. And we need your help.

The National Crime Prevention Council cites studies that show Neighborhood Watch programs are effective because:

  • They bring neighbors together around a common cause - safety and security.
  • They provide basic skills to all members on preventing crime and reporting suspicious activity or crimes.
  • They build a base for correcting neighborhood problems.

Neighborhood Watch members are important partners with local law enforcement:

  • Fear of crime in the community is reduced
  • Crime reporting by citizens is enhanced
  • Surveillance in the community is increased
  • Crime is prevented and reduced
  • Homeland security is greatly improved

Many Neighborhood Watch groups form in response to an increase in crime in their neighborhood. The best time to form a Neighborhood Watch group is before you or one of your neighbors is a victim. Since its inception in 1972, thousands of communities have established Neighborhood Watches and made a REAL difference. Won’t you join your Bellevue Police Department to make a difference in your community? We have created a link to the Neighborhood Watch program guidelines sheet. Please take a few minutes to read the material and call your Community Policing Coordinator to get started.
