If someone was arrested by the Bellevue Police, where are they taken?
How can I find out if someone is in jail?
What are the visiting hours at the jail?
When will arrestees go to court?
How can I get property from an arrestee / inmate if they are in jail?
A: Persons arrested by the Bellevue Police are taken to the Sarpy County Jail, located at 1208 Golden Gate Drive in Papillion. The Bellevue Police does not have its own holding facility, but shares jail space with the Sarpy County Sheriff's Office, the Papillion Police Department, and the La Vista Police Department.
A: You may contact the booking department at the jail by calling (402) 593-2298. The booking area is staffed 24-hours a day to answer such questions. Also, the booking staff can tell you if an arrestee has a bond, or if they have to see a judge to have a bond set.
A: For visiting related questions, call the Sarpy County Sheriff's Office at (402) 593-2342.
A: Court dates are assigned by the arresting officer. The arresting officer will assign a court date which is usually one month or more into the future. If an arrestee does not bond out, he or she will remain in jail until they either are released by the court, complete their sentence, or post bond.
A: Arrestees can release such items as cash, ATM cards, and car keys to someone should the need arise. Again, you should call the Sarpy County Jail's Booking Department at (402) 593-2298 before you come to pick the item up. Also, remember to bring some form of picture I.D. with you.
At the jail, you will be required to sign a property release form. Once this routine paperwork has been completed, you will be given the requested property.
A: If an arrestee is bondable (that is, has a court scheduled bond set), he or she can be bonded out twenty four hours a day, seven days a week.
To post bond, you first need to call the Sarpy County Jail's Booking Department at (402) 593-2298. Once you have found out what the bond is, you can come to the jail and post bond. The entrance to the jail for bonding purposes is located on the east side of the building between the Law Enforcement Center and the Sarpy County Hall of Justice. Before you arrive, make sure you bring the following:
***YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO POST A BOND WITHOUT THESE TWO ITEMS***
After posting bond, the arrestee will have to complete some routine paperwork and will be given their personal property back. They will then be released to you.
