Officer Kessler, Officer of the First Quarter

The Excellence in Law Enforcement Committee has selected Officer Kessler as the officer of the first quarter of 2002. Officer Kessler was nominated by her supervisor, Lieutenant Chuck Clark. She was selected by the committee for her outstanding duty performance during the first quarter of 2002.

Officer Kessler received a commendation for her work on an attempted abduction case. Officer Kessler found a vehicle matching that of the suspect involved and made contact with him. She spent several hours on the investigation, conducting a search of the suspect’s van and his motel room. She acquired a written statement from him. Officer Kessler also re-interviewed the victim in the case and completed a 24 page report, detailing the investigation, which resulted in the arrest of the suspect. This was one example of Officer Kessler’s hard work and determination.

Officer Kessler also received two other commendations in the first quarter of 2002 for exemplary work performed during the fourth quarter of 2001. One was for her work in solving several vehicle break-ins, and the other for her role in assisting in the investigation of an unreported sexual assault case.

Officer Kessler’s supervisor wrote that Officer Kessler shows a lot of initiative in taking calls, choosing to do officer initiated activities, and completing investigations thoroughly and in a timely fashion. He also wrote that she continually displays an attitude that "I’m here to work and catch bad guys!"
