Officer Kessler, Officer of the Fourth Quarter

The Excellence in Law Enforcement Committee has selected Officer Kessler as the officer of the fourth quarter of 2002. Officer Kessler had also been selected earlier in the year as the Officer of the Quarter for the First Quarter.

Officer Kessler was commended for an outstanding investigation. She was credited with solving an on-going domestic violence situation with an arrest. The call initially came in only as a verbal disturbance, with both people involved claiming no one was hurt. Officer Kessler began investigating some inconsistencies in their stories. She also learned of a prior assault and also worked that case. Officer Kessler continued connecting pieces of the puzzle until she had a clear picture of what had occurred and was able to make an arrest. She then completed a detailed seven page report on the incident.

In addition to Officer Kessler’s excellent investigative skill, the Committee also recognized her talents as a Field Training Officer (FTO). Officer Kessler has become known as a very hard working FTO with expertise in training recruits how to complete detailed police reports. Officer Kessler completes excellent, detailed reports and is able to impart that knowledge to the recruits that she trains.

Lastly, Officer Kessler was recognized by her supervisor as one of our best examples of a community-oriented police officer. She has worked her whole career in District One because she knows the residents there and enjoys working with them. She cares about delivering the best police services that she can. She truly enjoys the interaction with "her" public.
