Officer Ducker, Officer of the First Quarter

The Excellence in Law Enforcement Committee has selected Officer Ducker as the officer of the first quarter of 2003. Officer Ducker was selected for his constant hard work and perseverance as the School Resource Officer for Bryan High School. Several committee members commented on Officer Ducker’s numerous investigations and arrests for assaults, thefts, drug and gang activity.

He was also cited for his great attitude while working in a very difficult situation. Officer Ducker was also commended by a teacher at Bryan High for his classroom presentation and interaction with students.

Honorable Mentions
2003 Officer of the First Quarter

Those officers receiving honorable mention were Officer Stinson and Detective Simones.

Officer Stinson was nominated by his supervisor for his reputation for accepting and tackling difficult calls and not accepting the easy way out. An example of this was his assistance in a disturbance at the White House Motel which resulted in the recovery of numerous stolen computers, Id’s, firearms and drugs. Another instance involved the investigation of an internal theft at Radio Shack. Officer Stinson was able to obtain a confession from the suspect who admitted to over $1,100 in fraudulent returns. Officer Stinson was also noted for his commitment and dedication in tracking down and arresting a suspect wanted in several past and continuing crimes. Finally, Officer Stinson assisted in the arrest of a suspect involved in shoplifting numerous packages of pseudoephedrine.

Detective Simones was nominated by his supervisor for his initiative and creative thinking in using a new way to investigate meth dealers. Detective Simones developed suspects who were purchasing a legal cutting agent for meth. He then coordinated surveillance of these suspects with several other agencies. His work has resulted in the arrest of six suspects and the seizure of over twenty-one pounds of methamphetamine.
