Officer Bees, Officer of the Second Quarter

The Excellence in Law Enforcement Committee has selected Officer Bees as the officer of the second quarter of 2003. Officer Bees was recognized by the committee for his self initiated arrest of a drug dealer possessing over half a pound of methamphetamine during May 2003. Also, during April 2003, Officer Bees was credited with his off duty identification of a suspect responsible for the theft of a $20,000 automobile.

Officer Bees was also distinguished for his many collateral duties which include his work as a Field Training Officer, Bike Patrol Officer, Drug Recognition Expert and SWAT Team Member. He was also cited by his supervisors for his excellent attitude, professional appearance and his extremely high work output.

Honorable Mentions
2003 Officer of the Second Quarter

Those officers receiving honorable mention were Officer Brown and Detective Crespo.

Officer Brown was nominated by his supervisor and selected as honorable mention by the committee for his high work output, including 99 misdemeanor arrests, 12 felony arrests and 19 DUI arrests during the quarter. Officer Brown also received a commendation for his arrest of a stolen car suspect and his apprehension of four subjects breaking into vehicles.

Detective Crespo was nominated by his supervisors and selected as honorable mention by the committee for his negotiation tactics at an armed standoff. Det Crespo’s tactics were credited with assisting in resolving the violent situation. Det Crespo was also noted for his assistance on child abuse cases at all hours of the day and night.
