Officer Brewer demonstrated performance above and beyond that which is routinely expected. In early January, Officer Brewer identified the occupants of a house in his district, following a complaint by a neighbor, and contacted them with the assistance of Officer Bartley. The officers informed the residents, whom were already known to Officer Brewer, that the department had received calls regarding suspicious activity at the home and that such behavior, if found to be true, wouldn’t be tolerated. They also obtained intelligence on a past motorcycle pursuit. Simply making contact with these people was sufficient to calm neighborhood concerns and there have been no issues at the house since. In February, Officer Brewer submitted, through his chain of command, suggested changes for the documentation of wellness points as an improvement to the current paper-based system. Officer Brewer came up with a list of suggestions. The entire wellness program is under review and the PSO is holding the suggested changes for possible use in the future. In March, Officers Brewer and Brazda did an admirable job on a rescue call involving CPR. They were able to regain the heartbeat of an elderly female only to later hear that she had passed away at Midlands Hospital. Also in March, Officer Brewer, without being directed to do so by a supervisor, volunteered to speak to a newly formed Neighborhood Watch group. The Neighborhood Watch Program Coordinator commented that Brewer had done an outstanding job and that his work may be directly responsible for the formation of at least three new Neighborhood Watch groups in his district. |
